Red Mountain House is situated in the heart of the beautiful village of Clarens. Built in a Neo– Colonial style, the Red Mountain House complex was opened in June 2003. You can enjoy an in-house shopping experience where a wide range of African curios, gifts, arts&crafts and ceramics are on sale. Browse through“Present a Fly”, our in house fly-fishing shop. Red Mountain House a la Carte restaurant specializes in fine South African foods and wines. The Last Cast Pub is a Fly fisherman's must. Built on a fly fishing theme is a cozy evening retreat. The Maiden and Warrior Terrace, inspired by a Sesotho legend about two nearby mountain peaks, with it's panoramic views of the Eastern Highlands and Lesotho mountains is a wonderful venue for our breakfast and lunchtime guests. Accommodation is on the first floor of the complex, each room adjoins a balcony, the ideal place to sit and admire theviews of the surrounding mountains or gardens of Market Square whilst enjoying a sundowner. Our accommodation consists of 6 luxury double rooms furnished with turn of the century antiques, four poster beds, fine linen and Persian carpets. Each room has a sitting area with an open fireplace and comfortable Morris chairs, where complimentary drinks and chocolates await your arrival. Fully tiled bathrooms are ensuite with a shower, bath and wall heater. For your comfort, under tile heating takes the chill from cold winter nights whilst ceiling fans cool those balmy summer evenings. Our honeymoonsuite caters for the needs of newly wed. A special room that will appeal to romantic souls. Alternatively, our luxury self-catering apartment, decorated with a subtle ethnic touch, offers flexible option for 2 – 6 guests. A choice of either one or two ensuite bedrooms and a Futon sleeper couch.A well-appointed kitchen and lounge/diner with fireplace, two private balconies, one adjoining the second bedroom, the other a wonderful extension of the lounge area. Enjoy a barbeque on the private balcony whilst absorbing the breath taking panoramic views of the Eastern Highlands and Lesotho.
