DESCRIPTION

Relax and watch the fish eagles, darters and kingfishers from the comfort of the stoep, as the golden afternoon sunlight streams over Kudu dam. Enjoy the special charm of a braai under a clear star-studded sky, listening to the sounds of the African bush.Kudu lodge combines the comforts of a fully equipped and spacious home with the peace and tranquility of the bush. The lodge itself is a tastefully renovated old farmhouse with a large open plan living and dining area, a stone-clad fire place and modern kitchen facilities. The lodge sleeps up to 16 people, and offers two separate braai areas, each supplied with well seasoned wood. The area offers plenty for the actively inclined, with four canoes provided for boating on the dams, and a range of walks including a marked trail over the nearby Kopje which offers lovely views over the Melk river valley, and reveals two further dams that guest are welcome to fish. Guests are also welcome to use all the facilities available at Windsong Cottages 8 km away. These included a 15m heated pool, trampoline and Children's Adventure Village. Windsong is also the starting point for Charles Baber's well known farm tour that encompasses everything from the history of the first settlers to an introduction to veld management and stud cattle breeding. Nearby, on the same farm, is the world famous Horizon Horseback Adventures, with over 70 horses to choose from, and a wide variety of equine activities, ranging from a gentle hack through the game reserve to cattle cutting and cross country. Other nearby activities include ‘Big 5' game drives, feeding the orphan white rhino at the Waterberg Rhino Museum, elephant backed game viewing, and spectacular helicopter flights over the Waterberg escarpment.
